According to Vijay Malla, Chairman of the resort, construction of the main structures has already been completed, while interior and finishing touches are moving ahead at full speed. Management of the property will be overseen by Solti Western Resort Manakamana, which already runs several hotels and resorts across Gorkha, Chitwan, and other regions.

The resort has been designed with a blend of modern luxury and cultural heritage. Its interior design is being handled by Indian company Arcov. Spread over 100 ropani of land, the resort will feature 51 rooms, six villas, and a tower building, accommodating up to 110 guests at a time. Guests will have the option of Queen, King, and Presidential suites, offering varying levels of comfort and luxury.
Facilities include a spa, fitness club, swimming pool, banquet halls with a capacity of 300 indoors and 500 outdoors, and a fine dining restaurant with space for 56 guests. These services are targeted toward both domestic and international visitors looking for an upgraded hospitality experience in Manakamana.
Chairman Malla highlighted that the resort will generate employment for 60 to 65 people, with priority given to locals. The project, built on his ancestral land, was motivated by a vision to bring world-class hospitality to his hometown. “Manakamana has always lacked a standard, luxury resort despite being a hub for religious tourism. I wanted to create a destination where pilgrims and tourists can stay comfortably for a couple of days,” he shared.
The resort also emphasizes local identity and sustainability. Guests will be served locally grown products and will experience the culture of Gurung and Magar communities. Additionally, the area’s natural attractions—including the Trishuli River, Cheemkeshwari Hills, orange orchards, and Himalayan views—will be showcased. Historical sites such as the cave named after martyr Lakhan Thapa will also be promoted.
Malla further expressed his ambition to develop Manakamana as an alternative to Nagarkot and Dhulikhel for short retreats, given its central location between Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan. With its refreshing climate, clean water, and breathtaking scenery, he believes Manakamana is ready to emerge as a premier tourist destination.
After four years of construction delays due to various reasons, the Manakamana Retreat Resort is finally nearing completion and promises to transform the hospitality landscape of the region.
